The Toy Butcher Persona is part of the bigger Dota 2 battle pass for The International 10, Valve’s huge annual microtransaction-rich event. The battle pass can still be purchased for just $9.99, but that’s just a “Level 1” version of the pass. The Toy Butcher Persona requires a battle pass level of 255, so Dota 2 players will have to play a ton or purchase the extra levels they need to unlock the new content. The battle pass expires on September 19, so Dota 2 players have some time yet to decide what to do.

The Toy Butcher Persona may be worth the investment, of course. It’s full replacement for Pudge in-game, featuring an entirely new model, completely different animations, as well as a new voice performance, too. Overall, it’s a very cute cosmetic and feels somewhat out of place in Dota 2. It certainly meets Dota 2’s high visual expectations for in-game cosmetics, but it does stand out as a result.

255 isn’t even near the highest levels the Dota 2 International 10 battle pass can go, of course. There are 2000 levels in total, with the final level grinding a unique gold Roshan texture, as well as a special icon for players’ healthbars that will last until May 2021. By then, Dota 2 players will hopefully have another in-person International tournament to look forward to.

Dota 2 is available now on PC.
