It’s been confirmed that the Doom Eternal Horde Mode will launch on Tuesday, October 26 as part of update 6.66. Horde Mode will presumably be similar to Horde Mode in other games, in that players have to fight back against endless waves of enemies, though they will be able to do so with the Doomslayer’s incredible arsenal and abilities at their disposal. It should go a long way in injecting Doom Eternal with more replay value, so it will be exciting to see how it all works out come October 26.

Besides Horde Mode, update 6.66 is bringing even more content to Doom Eternal. Fans of the blood-soaked FPS can also look forward to Battlemode 2.0 with a new arena and features, changing up the game’s unique asymmetrical PvP mode. Two more Doom Eternal Master Levels are also getting added to the game with update 6.66, with even more content teased that has yet to be revealed.

While this marks the first time Doom Eternal will have Horde Mode in an official capacity, the PC version has technically had a version of it for awhile. Some months after Doom Eternal launched, a modder created their very own version of a Doom Eternal Horde Mode for fans on PC to play. However, now Doom Eternal’s Horde Mode will be an official part of the game and console players will be able to join in on the action as well.

With the addition of Horde Mode and Battlemode 2.0, one would think that update 6.66 would mark the end of Doom Eternal’s major post-launch content updates. After all, the game has already received its Ancient Gods expansions and has received numerous updates since its initial launch in 2020. If so, Doom Eternal has certainly had an impressive run, and there’s no denying that the post-launch content for id Software’s celebrated first-person shooter game has gone a long way in improving its longevity.

Doom Eternal is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
